Greg Hardy Net Worth $4 Million
Greg Hardy grew up in Tennessee and went to the Briarcrest Christian School in Memphis, where he excelled in football, basketball, and track. Hardy won the state championship in football in 2004, and he was a teammate with offensive tackle Michael Oher. In track & field, Hardy competed in sprint and shot put. Although being considered as one of the top pass rushers before the 2009 NFL Draft, Hardy decided to go back to his Ole Miss University and play in the senior year.
Hardy was one of the highest rated players in the 2010 NFL Draft, but injuries caused his anticipated place to drop significantly, and he was selected as the 175th pick in the 6th round by the Carolina Panthers, which began the rise of his net worth. In his rookie season, Hardy failed to start a game, but recorded 24 solo and six assisted tackles, along with two forced fumbles, three sacks, and one blocked punt for safety.
Hardy’s second season was much better; he recorded 38 solo and 12 assisted tackles, four sacks, and a forced fumble. He missed six games due to a thumb injury in 2012, but still managed to record 61 combined tackles, (41 solo), 11 sacks, two forced fumbles and one recovered fumble. The next season was the best of his career; Hardy had 59 tackles but recorded a fantastic 15 sacks (the highest in Carolina’s history for a season), along with forced and recovered fumble. He earned his only call so far to the Pro Bowl.
In May 2014, Hardy was arrested for assault and communicating threats after he attacked his girlfriend, half-strangling her, and threatening to kill her. The judge found him guilty in July and sentenced him to 18 months probation and 60 days in jail. However, Hardy appealed, and the victim didn’t make it for the trial, so the charges were dropped. Although Carolina’s Head Coach Ron Rivera said that he has no problems with Hardy playing, the team deactivated him, and the league put him on the exempt list. The Commissioner Roger Goodell initially suspended Hardy for ten games, but in July 2015, his suspension was softened to four games.
In March 2015, Hardy signed a contract with Dallas Cowboys worth $11.3 million over one year, which increased his net worth by a large margin; the team was heavily criticized for making that decision. Hardy appeared in 12 games and recorded 35 combined tackles, six sacks, one interception (first in his career), and one forced fumble. However, the Cowboys opted not to re-sign him, so he became a free agent at the end of the last season
Regarding his personal life, Greg Hardy’s marital status is single, and after a controversy with a former girlfriend, his personal details remain hidden from the public eyes.
